Introduction
DA Managed IT publishes Business IT Guides and Workplace Technology Learning at https://aftrim.com/. The site is an independent educational resource. It is not a customer portal, a help-desk product, or a contract for IT operations.
This policy describes the information practices that belong to this website as it stands today: what we may receive, how we use it, and how you can reach us. It is written in plain language for readers in Canada and for anyone who visits the site from elsewhere.
Who We Are
The website is published under the name DA Managed IT. We have not published a separate legal entity name or a street address on this site because those details have not been confirmed for publication.
Place of publication: Grimshaw, Alberta, Canada. Telephone and email addresses are listed under Contact Information on this page and on the contact page.
Scope of This Policy
This policy covers the public pages of https://aftrim.com/, including the learning topics, About, Contact, and the legal pages. It does not cover Microsoft, other software vendors, your employer, or any other website you may visit from a search result or a bookmark.
It also does not describe a managed IT service, remote support session, or repair job. Those activities are not offered through this website, so they are not part of this policy’s processing description.
Information We Collect
You can read the guides without creating an account. The site does not ask you to register, and it does not use a login.
Personal information reaches us only if you choose to send it, or if the computers that host the site record ordinary technical details about a visit. We do not claim that the site collects nothing. Email and server logs are both possible, and both are described below.
This version of the website does not include a contact form that submits information. If you write to a published email address, the message is handled as ordinary email, not through a form on these pages.
Information You Provide by Email
The published addresses are [email protected] for general questions, suggestions, privacy questions, and these legal pages, and [email protected] for help understanding a published guide, instruction, or checklist.
If you send a message, we receive the content of that message and whatever your mail system includes with it, such as your email address, a name in the From field, and the date. If you add a telephone number, a workplace name, or a screenshot, we receive those too.
Please do not send passwords, payment card numbers, government identification, or files that belong to other people. We do not need that information to explain a page on this site.
A message about a guide is a request for help with published reading material. It is not a request that we connect to a computer, repair a device, or administer a workplace system.
Technical Information and Server Logs
The organisation that hosts these files may keep ordinary connection logs. Those logs typically include an IP address, the date and time of the request, the address of the page or file requested, a referrer if the browser sends one, and a user-agent string that describes the browser and device.
We do not operate a separate analytics product in the site’s own code. We also do not publish the host’s exact log format or retention settings, because those belong to the hosting environment and can change without a change to these pages.
If we review logs, it would be to keep the site available, to investigate errors or abuse, or to understand a report you sent us. We do not use host logs to build a marketing profile of readers.
How We Use Information
If you write to us, we use the message to understand the question and to reply. We may keep the correspondence so that a later message on the same subject can be read in context.
Technical logs, when we can see them, are used to operate the website and to deal with security or availability problems.
We do not use the website to run an advertising list, and we do not describe a practice of selling personal information. If that ever changed, this policy would have to change first.
Legal Basis and Applicable Privacy Requirements
DA Managed IT is based in Alberta, Canada. Canadian privacy law may apply to this website, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies, and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) where it applies.
Where those statutes apply, we use personal information for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances: answering a message you sent, publishing and maintaining an educational website, and protecting that website from abuse. Sending us email is treated as a request that we read and answer that email.
This page is an account of current practice. It is not a certification, an audit opinion, or a claim that every privacy statute in Canada — or in any other country — has been independently verified against this website.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The site’s own pages do not set cookies for navigation, measurement, or advertising. They also do not write guide text into local storage or session storage. The cookie policy describes what the code on this website does and does not do.
A hosting platform in front of the site might still record visits or set its own cookies for security or traffic management. Those mechanisms, if they exist, are not scripts we added to these pages.
Third-Party Services
Fonts, style sheets, photographs, and scripts used to display the site are files hosted with the site. There is no analytics tag, advertising pixel, social plugin, or embedded video player in the published pages.
Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows, and other products named in the guides are teaching subjects. Naming them does not place a Microsoft tracker on this website and does not make Microsoft a party to your visit.
If you send email, your mail provider and ours will process that message. We do not publish a vendor list for hosting or mail, because those arrangements can change and a guessed list would be misleading.
Information Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell personal information.
A hosting provider necessarily sees connection data for the files it serves. An email system necessarily sees messages sent to the published addresses. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if it is necessary to protect the site or to respond to a serious threat.
We do not share educational-site correspondence with a marketing partner, and we do not pass it to an IT-support contractor as a work order. This website does not create that kind of engagement.
International Data Processing
You may write to us from outside Canada. We may read that mail in Alberta. The computers that host the website, and the systems that carry email, may be in Canada or in another country. We do not control every location used by a host or a mail provider, and we do not invent a map of those locations here.
If you are outside Canada, the privacy rules of your country may differ from Canadian law. This policy does not claim that the site meets every foreign statute.
Data Retention
We have not published a numeric retention schedule, because we would be guessing at host-log periods we do not solely control, and because email is kept for as long as it remains useful to understand a conversation or to meet a legal duty.
When a message is no longer needed for those reasons, it can be deleted from the mailbox we use for the published addresses. Host logs follow the host’s own settings.
Information Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Email is handled through ordinary mailbox security. We do not list encryption products, monitoring platforms, or security certifications here, because those claims would not be verified in this document.
No method of transmission or storage is guaranteed to be secure. If you need to discuss a highly sensitive incident, consider whether email to a public educational website is the right channel.
Your Privacy Choices and Rights
You can read the site without sending personal information. You can also ask us, at [email protected], what personal information we hold about you from correspondence, and you can ask us to correct it or to delete a message we no longer need.
Canadian privacy law may give you additional rights of access and correction where PIPEDA or PIPA applies. We will respond in a way that matches the request and the law that applies. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the person concerned.
This website does not use advertising cookies, so there is no advertising-cookie control to switch off on these pages.
Children's Privacy
The guides are written for people in workplaces, not for children. The site does not ask anyone under 13 to send personal information, and it is not directed at children.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to [email protected]. We will review the message.
External Websites
Search engines, vendor documentation, and other sites are outside this policy. If you leave https://aftrim.com/, their rules apply. This website does not currently embed third-party pages inside the guides.
Changes to This Policy
We may replace this policy when the site’s practices change, for example if a contact form is enabled or if a measurement tool is added. The current text is the one at this address. The date at the top of the page is the date of this version.
If a change is material, we will update this page before we rely on the new practice.
